Hangar doors
Doors installed, replaced, and repaired.
The door is the hardest-working part of a hangar. We install new door systems, replace tired ones on existing hangars, and repair hydraulics, controls, and tracks.
Hangar door servicesNew door installation
Hydraulic one-piece, bi-fold, and sliding door systems installed on new hangars — sized and specified with the structure so the header, footing, and power are right the first time.
Replacement on existing hangars
Worn or undersized doors replaced on airport, FBO, and private hangars, including header modifications and new electrical service for the operator.
Repair and service
Hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical repairs — pumps, cylinders, controls, seals, and tracks — by crews that self-perform the electrical side.

Building partner
Pre-engineered steel, erected and finished by one team.
Fox Mill Buildings supplies the pre-engineered, clear-span steel hangar packages Horst Co erects and finishes — durable, weather-resistant structures with maximum interior space and easy access for maintenance and maneuvering.
Where we build
Hangar construction across the Southeast and Texas.
Based in Central Tennessee and building across five states. Pick your state for airports, permitting notes, and what changes by region.
Hangar FAQ
Questions pilots and owners ask.
Which areas does Horst Co serve?
We are based in Central Tennessee and handle commercial construction, site work, and the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC trades across the region. For custom airport hangars we build across Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Texas.
What is design-build, and why does it matter for a hangar?
Design-build puts design and construction under one contract with one team. For a hangar that matters because the site, structure, door system, and trades all depend on each other — one team coordinates them from the start, gives you real pricing earlier, and removes the hand-off between designer and builder.
How long does it take to build an aircraft hangar?
Most private and corporate hangars run a few months from permit to handover, depending on size, site work, and door type. We give a realistic schedule with your estimate and hold to it.
What does a custom hangar cost?
Cost depends on square footage, clear span, the door system, site work, and interior finishes like offices or lounges. We provide a free, detailed estimate for all major projects so the number reflects your actual hangar, not a per-square-foot guess.
Do you handle permitting and site work?
Yes. We manage permitting, grading, drainage, and foundations along with the structure and trades — a true single-source, design-build process. Airport ground-lease and layout-plan approvals are coordinated alongside the local building permit.
What is the difference between a T-hangar, a box hangar, and a corporate hangar?
A T-hangar is a row of individual T-shaped units that share walls, typically built by airports or FBOs for based-aircraft tenants. A box hangar is a clear-span rectangle sized for one or more aircraft with room to maneuver. A corporate hangar is a larger box hangar built for a business fleet, usually with attached offices, lounges, and crew areas.
Can you add offices, lounges, or shop space to a hangar?
Yes. Private, estate, and corporate hangars often include attached offices, lounges, crew areas, and shop space. Because we self-perform the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, those spaces are designed and built with the hangar rather than fitted in afterward.
Do you install or replace hangar doors on existing hangars?
Yes. Hangar doors are a regular part of our work — new installations on hangars we build, and replacements and repairs on existing airport, FBO, and private hangars. Because we self-perform electrical, the power and controls for the door operator are handled by the same crew.
What types of hangar doors do you work with?
Hydraulic one-piece doors are the most common request, and we also install and service bi-fold and sliding door systems. On a new hangar we size the door with the structure; on an existing hangar we assess the header, footing, and power before quoting.
