Every building starts as dirt. Horst Co self-performs site work and excavation — clearing, rough and finish grading, drainage, and pad preparation — so the foundation crew arrives to a site that is ready, and the schedule is not waiting on a separate earthwork contractor.
Scope we handle
- Clearing and grading to the elevations the design calls for, with compaction verified before anything goes on top.
- Drainage and stormwater — swales, culverts, and outfalls sized for the site, not just the minimum.
- Foundation pads and slabs-on-grade for buildings, hangars, and equipment.
- Gravel lots, aprons, and access roads built to carry the loads they will actually see.
- Utility trenching for the electrical, water, and sewer runs our own trades install.
Why it matters for hangars
Aviation sites carry extra requirements — apron tie-in, drainage away from the door line, and pad tolerances that let a large door track true. Because the same team does the site work and the structure, those details are coordinated instead of discovered.
